2017 Jingle & Mingle Holiday Party

After a busy year of organizing technical assistance & awards functions for our members and fostering meaningful partnerships with supporters of our cause, the team here at the LALCC wanted to make the end of the year social an occasion to thank our supporters, but also to rev us into 2018. Our holiday event, coined the Jingle & Mingle Holiday Social, ended up being all that and more.

Held in partnership with the Latino Food Industry Association, we saw a full house at the Indie Desk venue, with 250 guests being treated to Star Catering’s assortment of tamales, hot chocolate & cider, desserts from the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, and a grand performance by the red clad mariachi conjunto of Voces de Mexico. The event’s program began with an introspective leadership exercise in our “Mingle” room. Guests were asked to divide into groups and share responses on their strengths, passions, fears, and goals. Afterwards, guests were then able to make their way into our music and bar “Jingle” room, where attendees enjoyed beer, wine, and mixed margarita drinks provided by Dragos Cantina.

Along with an opportunity to share passions and connect with fellow attendees, the Holiday Social allowed for guests to see first hand the results of their support and contributions. A total of $4,000 in donations raised from our 4th Annual Golf Tournament was presented by LALCC Board member, Julius Argumedo, to Director of the STEAM Bridge Program Jessica Morales-Chicas, and CAPs mentors David C. Betancourt and Art E. Montoya. The STEAM Bridge Program for Girls is an organization that fosters a hands on approach to science, tech, engineering, and the arts for East LA middle school Latinas. The CAPS Leadership program provides leadership development to Latinx in colleges throughout California.

At the close of the program, Chairman of the LALCC Board, Gilbert Vasquez, took to the podium to present the prestigious Adelante Award to Board member Raul Salinas, a recognition bestowed upon those tireless individuals who have dedicated their time, talents, and leadership toward uplifting the Latino community. Congrats Raul and thank you for the dedication you’ve shown to us!

Guests spent the rest of the night mingling among their peers, taking in the beautiful vocals from the mariachi leads, and creating photographic memories with hashtag cutouts (#JingleMingle and #LatinoHoliday) and step & repeat backdrop provided by CR&A Custom. It was a memorable success overall and a great way to accelerate into new programs and initiatives for 2018!
